Subject: Dear [Decision Maker] Message: [Edit below] I have recently learned of the brutality committed by South African fishermen against defenseless Cape fur seals. I understand that the shooting of these seals is prohibited by the South African government, in accordance with the Seal Protection Act. I understand that this legislation encourages the promulgation of laws banning firearms on fishing boats as their use on boats is solely for the illegal purpose of killing the seals. Nevertheless, the South African government has yet to pass such laws, the consequence being that seals are being mercilessly shot each day by fishermen. I urge you to take action immediately and ban firearm possession on fishing boats as well as investigate, apprehend, and bring to justice the fishermen who are guilty of this and other crimes against marine wildlife.
